Chapter 9

The next morning at about 6:30, I woke up. I heard Sydney meowing at the window for some weird reason. Then I pulled off my covers, put on my slippers and robe, and went outside of my bedroom to see what was going on. I walked down the hall, and entered the living room. It was very silent at this early. Nobody was awake--except for Sydney of course. There was also the snow and rail falling. I slowly walked to where Sydney was meowing. It was a mouse, who was outside in the snow. Sydney was also batting at the snowflakes that gently fell down from the sky. Then I heard someone call my name.

As soon as I reached where my name was coming from--my room--, I went inside. I realized that Hannah was here, I had totally forgot from hearing the meow and being distracted by Sydney. "Good morning..." Hannah said in a sleepy tone. "Good morning" I replied. I realized that I too sounded sleepy.

                                                                       ❤❤❤

After a couple of hours of talking, I heard Mom open her door. She woke up sort of late on the weekends, so me and Hannah had to wait a little while. "Good morning Rose and Hannah. Do you girls want me to make breakfast?" Mom said. "Sure" I said. "Sounds great!" Hannah said. Then Mom disappeared down the hallway. "Is today a Gymnastics day?" Hannah asked me, I could tell she was still sleepy. "Yeah. Every day except Sunday!" I said with a smile. "Ooooohhhh, yeah...." Hannah said. "Breakfasts ready!" Mom shouted across the house. Then me and Hannah dashed down the hallway into our small kitchen. It wasn't too small, but smaller then most kitchens. Our house was originally built in the late 1800's, but we have had many many updates done to it. Like earthquake safety and things that you have to have or else your house isn't safe. Our house was also really modern now, too. I saw that Mom made waffles for us. As me and Hannah sat down at our dining table, I asked Hannah if she knew anything new of what we were going to practice today in Gymnastics. "Well......I could e-mail Coach Anna.....But other then that, no." Hannah replied to me. "Okay. I'm just curious. Because of what we did last time.....Salto passes......That's advanced stuff!" I said. "Totally agreed!" Hannah said with a grin. After we finished breakfast, we got our leotards on and our warm up clothes, and grabbed our snow gear, and gym bags, and headed out the door. Yesterday the snow storm had been too bad so me and Hannah had to stop at a coffee shop so that we wouldn't get swept away by the horrible wind and the snowstorm. I breathed in the freezing air....It felt good a little to have fresh air, it smelled like snow, and I barely get that smell.

                                                                         ❤❤❤

After me and Hannah got to the gym, I saw the older girls who were almost guaranteed to make the Olympic trials--it was really cool to work with them in the gym, it's like training with Gabby Douglas! Boy, wouldn't that be cool!-- practicing back handspring-layouts on the balance beam. I sighed in awe as one of the gymnasts landed their dismount perfectly. I knew that someday soon, I would be going into junior elite training, that was really exciting! If your a gymnast like me, then it's a serious step in your career. That step basically puts your on track for the Visa championships--or at least the competition. And if you get chosen for that, that means you truly have potential. Until then, you don't exactly if you can take the pressure of it....So far I didn't exactly know if I was going to break under the pressure or not, but I doubt I was. I had lived through two years of intense training, I think I could manage a level higher--or at least I hoped. Then I walked over to my locker, and put in my gym bag and my sweats, as Hannah did a couple of seconds later. After that, I took a small walk around the gym to look out all the windows, there were a lot of big windows in the gym, so it made it easy to go sight-seeing when you had a small water break or while you were waiting for a class to start. I had made it sort of a routine because I was pretty much always a teeny bit early. Today outside the windows looked like a winter wonderland. The streets were lined with snow, and the trees seemed to have a slight dusting of snow on them...It seemed like it was magic in a way. After a small "walk" around the gym, I got called to the mats to begin. It seemed like forever before we actually begun--Kelsey had forgotten her pink headband in her locker and freaked out and then ran back and got it, that took about 10 minutes...And then Kara was late, so we had to wait for her, but I couldn't blame her, the weather was so bad, me and Hannah could have left on time but been 15 minutes late because of this terrible weather.
After everything finally got resolved, and Kara got to the gym, and Kelsey finally found her pink headband, we could begin. I could tell that I was getting stronger, and that I was getting more used to the moves I used to call hard. The first thing we practiced was Salto passes once again. Anyone who is a gymnast must prefect the move to move onto a harder one. So it takes a long long time to learn your whole set of Gymnastics basics. But it can be done. Salto passes are hard for me...but it depends on the day. On Vault, we learned how to do a round-off flat-back handspring. Now that was hard for me. But practice makes perfect. "Hannah" I whispered to Hannah. "Yeah?" she replied quietly. "How do you feel about our new Vault routine?" I asked. "It's really exciting to learn new things!! Oooh! I have a great joke for you, Rose! But I think we should focus now...I'll tell you later!" Hannah replied happily. "Sure!" I whispered back.
When it was my turn on Vault, I went to the end of the mat. Then I focused as hard as I could, collected all the speed I could, and started to run. I did my round off, and then my back handspring. One thing I noticed was that it was totally different than what I normally do. Hannah did stellar on her routine, and the rest of the team did too.
After Vault, which we spent almost the whole time on, we had to leave. But Coach Anna gave us an extra twenty minutes because we spent all of our time on Vault learning the new routine. We had free time--free time to practice any event or move we wanted to. I decided to practice my favorite event--Uneven Bars, I practiced a Kip.
A kip allows a gymnast to swing below the bar and arrive in front. It may sound easy, but it's not as easy as it sounds... I had fallen three times the time the twenty minutes was up. But I had almost mastered the move. I was in level seven Gymnastics  and the move was level five, or sometimes four. After the twenty minutes was up, I said goodbye to all my teammates and headed out the door. Hannah came with me. Hannah's mom had agreed that she could stay at my house for a little while after Gymnastics because of the terrible weather. And the roads were still closed. So there was no telling what would happen and how long Hannah would have to stay at my house.

                                                                      ❤❤❤

As we walked out the door, I took a deep breath, sucking in the cold air that was outside, and exhaled slowly. I knew I would do something big with one of my routines...Something big...I knew Coach Anna had complete faith in me, and most of my team. She knew we could get far in the Gymnastics world. "Hannah" I began. "Yeah Rose?" Hannah replied to me. "What was that joke you wanted to tell me earlier?" I said. "Oh.....I forgot all about that Joke...I'll begin telling it!!" Hannah announced happily. "One night, Bob, Joe, and Doug were walking home from a late night movie, and they finally get to their apartment.
When they get there, they find out that the elevator is broken, so they take the stairs. The stair cases have 200 stairs each, and there are three flights. For the first flight, Bob will tell Happy stories, for the second flight Doug would tell Jokes, and for the third flight Joe would tell sad stories. When it finally got to Joe's turn, he says, "Here's a sad story, I left the room keys down stairs". That's the joke!" Hannah said, giggling half way through the joke. I giggled too...My face even turned red.

                                                                     ❤❤❤

After me and Hannah finally reached my house, after about a full hour of walking around mounds of
snow. I walked in the door with Hannah, it instantly felt warmer in my house. Sydney came up to me and Hannah and rubbed on us so much I almost fell over. Sydney is my cat, but really a kitten at heart.
"How was Gymnastics today girls?" Mom asked us. "Great!" Hannah said with a grin. "Great here, too. Today we learned our new Vault routine...It's sooo hard, or at least in a way it is." I replied to mom. "Well, yes...I imagine it is hard. But everything gets easier you know. Remember the first day you started Gymnastics? Everything was difficult for you...But now, your a star in Gymnastics." Mom said to me.
"Thanks Mom. I guess that's true." I said, smiling. "Besides, look how much you have improved since last year!! You have moved up three levels!" Hannah added. "That's true." I said happily. Then me and Hannah ran down the hallway to my room

                                                                    ❤❤❤

Over the dinner table that evening, we ate quietly. Hannah was still at my house--all the Weather ever did was get worse. "I wonder if the weather will ever get better..." Hannah said quietly. "Me too..." I said. I peered out the window, the snow started coming down harder.
By now, it was dark. There was not really any hope of Hannah going back to her house--a sleepover! "Hannah...Do you think we could have another sleepover tonight?" I said with a grin. "Yes!! My mom cant come, that would work out perfect!!!" Hannah said smiling.
"Girls," Mom said. "yes mom?" I said quickly and quietly. "There is a new girl moving into your Gymnastics class, her name is Sky. She has recently moved from another Gym and wanted to be more competitive, so she moved to your gym. She just moved here from the other side of town, but I'm sure you girls will become fast friends with her." Mom finished. "Yeah, I think so." me and Hannah said at the same time. Sometimes, I wonder if Hannah can read my mind. We say the same thing at the same time a lot.

                                                                      ❤❤❤

After we finished dinner, me and Hannah went to get pajamas on. Hannah didn't bring pajamas, so she borrowed another pair of mine. I also laid out four sleeping bags on the floor--two per person, it's that cold! After we had both changed, we sat around my teeny-tiny lantern that used to be for my dolls, but it also worked great for telling scary stories in the dark! Hannah told a story of the time when she went on a "haunted" vacation when she was four, and how the drawers kept opening when no one opened them, and how they kept getting their food and clothes stolen. Only at the end of the trip to find out that it was all a prank played by Hannah's little sister, who at the time was no more than two years old.
"Wow" I began. "That's creepy..". I imagined all the drawers opening without seeing who did it. But it did make sense, Hannah's little sister probably had no clue what she was doing until the whole family blamed the clothes on her. They later found out that all of their missing clothes had been stuffed in the cabinets in the kitchen of their rental house in Hawaii. Oh how nice it would be to go there!
Two hours later, after telling lots--and lots, and lots, of scary stories, we had fallen asleep sitting up. During the night I had a dream that Gabby Douglas was sitting in my living room, and we were chatting. Then she showed me some trampoline moves. Dreams with Gabby in them occur for me a lot for some reason. Well, she is my idol, after all.

Authors note: Yay! Finally another chapter! I'm so SO sorry for the long wait! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo busy with Gymnastics, school, and all of that :O. Sky is Ninif's character. Also, that dream that Rose had...I actually had that dream last night :3. I have a lot of dreams about Gabby too. And the whole Fierce Five...They are my idol's too. Chapter 10 will be the full introduction of Sky, by the way, Ninif. :)
